Ratatan Co-op: Room Codes & Multiplayer Requirements

At a glance

Ratatan supports online co-op for up to four players, but no local co-op on one system. To join a friend on the same platform, open multiplayer, choose friend matchmaking and enter the host’s room code. Welcome Mode is disabled in co-op.

Join a friend with a room code

Once the host has created a room:

  1. Ask the host for the room code.
  2. Open the multiplayer menu.
  3. Choose friend matchmaking.
  4. Enter the shared code.

Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox players can also use their platform’s invitation system. Arrange same-platform sessions; a room code is not a workaround for crossplay availability.

Before troubleshooting a connection

  • Match the game versions used by the players.
  • On consoles, check that the required online membership is active.
  • The Steam requirements specify an open or moderate, non-symmetric NAT connection.
  • If a room still fails, record the platform, version and error before changing network settings.

The October 16, 2026 developer notice lists connection and disconnection issues under investigation. There is no single setting that can be promised to fix every failed session.
